Loeb & Loeb Adds Experienced Entertainment Lawyer Liza Montesano to New York Team
Loeb & Loeb LLP, a multi‑service firm with more than 450 attorneys and offices across the United States and Asia, announced on April 8, 2026 that Liza Montesano has joined its New York office as a partner in the Entertainment Department.
Montesano brings over a decade of experience representing a broad spectrum of entertainment clients, from emerging artists to recipients of major awards such as the Tony, Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Olivier, Pulitzer Prize and MacArthur Fellowship. Her practice has covered the entire life cycle of stage productions and extended to literary publishing, film, television, podcast, endorsement and brand partnership deals, as well as intellectual‑property, guild and union matters and contract enforcement.
"Liza is a trusted advisor who is highly respected across the live stage industry," said Stefan Schick, co‑chair of Loeb’s Theater and Live Entertainment practice. "Her ability to structure and negotiate complex deals, combined with her love of theater, has made her one of the leading lawyers within the market."
Co‑chair Carol Kaplan added that Montesano’s experience advising productions from development through opening night and beyond will strengthen the firm’s capabilities in the sector.
Montesano earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Loyola University Maryland. She joined Loeb & Loeb from Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham LLP, where she was a partner.
The New York office, located on Park Avenue, is one of Loeb & Loeb’s largest locations. The firm’s Entertainment, Music and Sports practice is one of the world’s largest interdisciplinary teams, handling transactional, counseling and dispute‑related matters for organizations and individuals.
"I am thrilled to join Loeb’s renowned entertainment team and become part of a firm with such a strong legacy in theater and live entertainment," Montesano said. "I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues to support our clients in bringing innovative and ambitious creative projects to life."
Loeb & Loeb’s Theater and Live Entertainment practice has been led by co‑chairs Stefan Schick and Carol Kaplan for several years. The practice focuses on live stage, film, television, publishing, digital media and brand endorsements, and has represented a range of clients from small productions to large‑scale Broadway shows.
The firm’s expansion of its entertainment department in New York follows previous additions, including veteran entertainment lawyer John Rolfe in Nashville in 2021. Loeb & Loeb has also represented high‑profile clients in other areas, such as country singer Carrie Underwood in the launch of her wellness brand HiNote.
Montesano’s addition is expected to enhance Loeb & Loeb’s ability to serve clients who need legal support across multiple media formats, from live theater to digital content and brand partnerships.
The firm’s website notes that Loeb & Loeb is recognized for its depth in practice areas including entertainment and media, technology, advertising, financial services, trusts and estates, and real estate. The firm is listed in the top 200 law firms in the United States by the National Law Journal’s 2023 NLJ 500 and the American Lawyer’s 2023 Am Law 200.
Montesano’s focus on the live stage industry aligns with the firm’s long‑standing reputation for advising producers and creative professionals on complex contracts and negotiations. Her background in intellectual‑property and union matters will also support clients navigating the evolving legal landscape of theater and entertainment.
The partnership is effective immediately. Montesano will be based in the New York office and will work closely with the firm’s existing entertainment team to advise clients on all aspects of production, publishing, digital media and brand endorsement deals.
Loeb & Loeb’s continued growth in the entertainment sector reflects the firm’s commitment to providing specialized legal services to a broad range of creative professionals and organizations.
