Zoey Deutchs New Comedy Features Jon Hamm, Amy Poehler and a Hot-Air Balloon Scene

In a whirlwind of hot‑air balloons and Hollywood hijinks, Zoey Deutch is slated to appear in six films in 2026, from Illumination’s animated “Minions & Monsters” to Sony Pictures Classics’ raunchy comedy “Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.” The latter, directed by David Wain, follows a Kansas hairstylist who discovers her fiancé has used her “celebrity sex pass” to sleep with actor Jon Hamm. Seeking revenge, she jets to Hollywood to confront Hamm and, according to the script, has a chance to get in bed with him.

Deutch unpacked the premise on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, noting, “A girl goes to Hollywood to find Jon Hamm to have sex with him. You have to watch the movie to see if I do have sex with Jon Hamm.” The film’s original working title, “I’ll Take the Hamm,” nods to the heroine’s plan to bed the former “Mad Men” star.

The first scene shot for the movie was a hot‑air balloon ride. Deutch recalls Hamm, dressed in a black‑tie, white dinner jacket, scrolling on his phone while the two were a foot apart. She later learned Hamm was on his podcast, “Good Hang,” talking to Amy Poehler—who also appears in the film—while still suspended in the balloon. Deutch has a history of balloon rides, having shared the sky with “Top Gun: Maverick” stars, Hamm, and Glen Powell.

“Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25 2026 and is slated for a U.S. theatrical release on July 10 by Sony Pictures Classics. The creative team includes writer‑director David Wain and co‑writer Ken Marino.

Deutch’s 2026 slate also features the Netflix romantic comedy “Voicemails for Isabelle,” which has earned a 91 % approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Illumination’s “Minions & Monsters.” The actress—daughter of director Howard Deutch and actress‑director Lea Thompson—has built a diverse filmography that spans independent films, mainstream comedies, and streaming series.

Jon Hamm, best known for his role as Don Draper on the television series “Mad Men,” appears as himself. His career spans film, television, and voice work, and he has taken on comedic roles in “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation.” Amy Poehler, a former “Saturday Night Live” cast member and star of “Parks and Recreation,” hosts the podcast “Good Hang” and also appears in the film.

The film’s bawdy premise and cameo appearances have drawn attention from fans and industry observers alike. Sony Pictures Classics, known for distributing independent and art‑house films, has positioned the movie as a satirical comedy that also comments on celebrity culture.

As of June 24 2026, “Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass” remains scheduled for its July release, with no additional casting or production updates announced.

The project follows a recent trend of actors and directors collaborating on comedies that blend humor with social commentary—a formula that has proven successful for Sony Pictures Classics in recent years.
