HIDIVE Announces Fall 2026 Premiere of Short Anime "I'm Dating a Dark Summoner"
HIDIVE has confirmed that the short‑form anime adaptation of the manga "I'm Dating a Dark Summoner" will premiere on its platform in October 2026. The series is part of the service’s Fall 2026 simulcast lineup and will be available to subscribers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and several other international markets.
The anime is produced by WWWave Corporation’s Deregula anime label. WWWave also operates the ComicFesta web manga service and the AnimeFesta programming block. The adaptation is directed by Seiya Miyajima, who is also credited with writing the series scripts. Takahiro Sasaki serves as character designer and chief animation director.
Rei Takano voices the protagonist, Amona, a demi‑human dark summoner who wields demon power. Yūki Nishiyama provides the voice for Roni, a righteous cleric who joins Amona’s party. Hōden Tei Senmai voices the character Imp. The story follows Amona’s first day with Roni’s party, which quickly evolves from tension to a passionate night.
The original manga, written and illustrated by Shaoh, began serialization in Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Sharp online magazine in November 2021. Kadokawa has released seven compiled volumes, with the seventh volume published on March 9, 2026. The manga’s fantasy premise and romantic comedy tone have attracted a growing readership.
According to the press release, the anime will be a short‑form series, a format that HIDIVE has been expanding to attract viewers who prefer concise storytelling. The production team’s experience—Miyajima’s work on "Umayon" and "BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! PICO", and Sasaki’s background on series such as "Monogatari"—suggests a polished adaptation.
The release aligns with HIDIVE’s strategy to broaden its library with original and adapted content. The platform’s Fall 2026 schedule also includes other new titles, positioning the service as a destination for diverse anime genres.
The announcement was made through a press release issued by WWWave. The release notes that Kadokawa World Entertainment, a subsidiary of Kadokawa Corporation, is the majority owner of Anime News Network, LLC. No additional details about licensing or distribution beyond HIDIVE have been disclosed.
Fans of the manga can expect the anime to retain the series’ core themes of fantasy, romance, and humor while delivering a condensed narrative. The October premiere will allow HIDIVE subscribers to experience the story in a new medium.
At present, the only confirmed next step is the scheduled October launch. No further information has been released regarding episode count, episode length, or additional cast members.
