Katy Perry launched her residency at Resorts World Las Vegas on Wednesday. Her many oversized stage sets comprised Perry Playland and it did indeed look like a playground.

Because the colorful sets and props were larger than life, they dwarfed Perry and made her resemble a miniature doll in a live action cartoon.

Ahead of Play’s debut, Perry explained to Good Morning America, “A lot of my shows have been figuratively larger than life, but I play a doll in this show, so everything is, like, three times the size of me.”
As a new mom to daughter Daisy, it’s no surprise that lactation occupies a large part of Perry’s mind, inspiring a bit where she expresses beer from her bra, instead of breast milk. Then, she drinks a swig.

Perry also performs in a large mushroom field.

There was also a frog to play opposite Perry’s toadstool.

Her literal toilet humor brought a lot of laughs.

Looking like someone who has been dealing with loads of dirty diapers recently, Perry jumps out of the commode and sings with talking poop. The toilet boasted rolls of toilet paper, for eyes.
The show lives up to its Vegas venue, offering all around entertainment and not just performances of Perry’s popular songs. There’s comedy, stunts, innumerable costume changes and a parade of visual humor. It’s like the circus came to town, with a singer as its biggest attraction and you’re going to hear her roar.

Perry doesn’t stint on the songs. She revealed her hit packed setlist on Instagram:
Maybe it’s motherhood, maybe it’s Covid quarantines, but Perry’s setlist is distinctly focused on domestic issues. Along with the bathroom toilet, there’s a shaving segment and bubbles.

The Vegas run is slated to last until March 2022, with Perry pocketing a cool 168 million for a total of 32 shows.
Hmmm, now would that be what one might call a Dark Horse?

And is this when Perry kissed a girl? I’m sure she liked it.

Of course, Alesso and Perry just released When I’m Gone and that stoked excitement ahead of Play’s opening.

With New Year’s Eve approaching, Perry’s entire show was ablaze with color and sound that rivaled any fireworks.
Then, it all ended, but not for long. She’ll be back, same place, same time for the next three months.
When I’m gone, I’m never really gone
You think you’re movin’ on
But it won’t be for long, you’ll see
